Dirk Donath, Yale College Alumnus (Class of ’88) spoke as part the CLAIS Lunchtime Colloquia series on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Mr. Donath is a Managing Partner of Latin America at L Catterton, and has previously worked at Eton Park Capital Management, Pegasus Capital, and McKinsey & Company. He also is a founder of FarmCity, the leading retail pharmacy chain in Argentina.

Mr. Donath’s talk was entitled “Investing in Latin America,” and he discussed the economic environment of Latin America, the attractiveness of investing there and L Catterton’s current involvement in Latin America. He also spoke of how Latin America’s average GDP growth and its stabilizing debt levels combined with the region’s consumer dynamics of a younger demographic, high urbanization, a rapidly emerging middle class and increased retail space combine to make investing in the area potentially highly profitable. Mr. Donath also detailed L Catterton’s current presence in 9 Latin American countries, and potential areas for growth.

Following the talk, Mr. Donath met with a number of undergraduate and graduate students for an informational and informal gathering about his talk, his professional and personal experiences in Latin America, and more broadly, in entrepreneurship and investing.
