Degree Program:
Political Science

My research interest in Latin America is diverse. With respect to anthropology, I wrote a research paper on how Florentine Codex translations showed European bias is imbued in the study of Aztec homosexuality. As a person with Aztec ancestry, my research interests also revolve around Aztec culture and politics more generally. Within political science, I am fascinated by the implementation of various political philosophies (e.g. social contract theory) within Latin American constitutions and government institutions, and am interested in researching their success, particularly in Mexico.

Areas of research and geographical interest:

Mesoamerican societies and government structures; the Aztec Empire; Latin American constitutions; Mexican politics
