Emily Sessions

Emily Sessions is a student in the History of Art department where she studies the art of the Caribbean in the long nineteenth century. She is especially interested in connections between the Anglophone, Francophone, and Hispanophone Caribbean; the visual cultures of botany, cartography, and scientific illustration; and issues of power and identity embedded in representations of the landscape and in the worked land itself. Emily earned her MA in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, where she focused on modern and contemporary Latin American art. Before arriving at Yale, she worked at the Brooklyn Museum and at Lohin Geduld Gallery in New York.
