Lisbette Acosta

Lisbette (she/her) is a junior in Morse College studying
Psychology and Education Studies while completing her
pre-medicine requirements. She hails from La Vega in the
Dominican Republic and lives in Newington, Connecticut. On
campus, she’s involved in research in the Equity Research and
Innovation Center (ERIC) at the Yale School of Medicine,
mentoring students as a Peer Liaison for Student Accessibility
Services (SAS), giving free college application support to high
school students through Matriculate, and creating local networks
of support through First-Years in Support of New Haven. When
she’s not looking for the next person to meet over a coffee or
encouraging people to find joy in the toughest of places, you can
find her trying new coffee shops, hanging out in HQ, or riding
her bike around New Haven!

Lisbette does research related to Eastern Caribbean public health
outcomes through the Eastern Caribbean Health Outcomes Network
(ECHORN), where she centers on risk factors for household food
insecurity relating to food access and water security. She hopes
to investigate how food systems in the Eastern Caribbean inform
attitudes about health, as well as how these attitudes may
translate into policy change.
