Theia is a junior pursuing a Dual BA/MA in American Studies. Her work has taken her to Palestine, Cuba, Ecuador, and Turkey. She is primarily interested in the (post)colonial construction of gendered labor and how contemporary systems of Western intervention in both Latin America and the Middle East replicate systems of gender-based violence. In Palestine, she studied how pinkwashing affects the lives of LGBTQ+ Palestinians seeking gender-affirming healthcare, and in Cuba, she did research on the state’s official gender education and healthcare system. After graduation, she plans to work briefly as a journalist and then pursue a PhD in American Studies.
