I am a Junior in Yale College coming from Italy with a strong interest in Spain. I learned Spanish as an autodidact and then took advanced Spanish literature classes at Yale. This summer, I conducted extensive research in Madrid on Spain’s climate change mitigation. I was part of a team at Bain & Company and I led the climate change mitigation policy research. I delved deep into the policies that Spain has already implemented to adapt to and mitigate climate change effects, which will severely affect the Iberian peninsula. I then identified critical areas and calls to action based on a climate risk assessment done in collaboration with Jupiter. I learned in depth about Spain’s vulnerabilities to climate change in different regions as well as its approach to addressing the climate challenge and its relationship and partnerships with other European countries. I conducted the work fully in Spanish and learned a lot more about Spain’s culture and society as they affect the working environment and the way the country is tackling climate change.
