Manuela Tahay is a Maya K’iche’ scholar and instructor of Maya K’iche’ language. She will lead participants in an activity building kites, which are used during the celebration of Day of the Dead ( Kiq’ij Kaminaqib’ ) in late October and early November throughout Central America and Mexico. She will share how cultural knowledge and local history are passed forward in Maya K’iche’ communities, using the traditions and beliefs of Day of the Dead as an example.
