Avi Patel is a prospective History of Science, Medicine,
and Public Health in Benjamin Franklin College originally from
Jacksonville, Florida. As a Floridian, Avi has had many
interactions with the Hispanic population and has since advanced
his Spanish education starting with taking Spanish classes in
middle school. Since then, he has cultivated an interest in
global and urban health within Hispanic populations. In the past,
Avi has looked at the impact of urban environmental contamination
on the health outcomes of people of color in his home community,
and analyzed the impact of Migrant Protection Protocols (MPPs) on
population health outcomes within sister cities across the
US-Mexico border region. Currently, Avi is working on analyzing
the impact of post-colonial environmental policies on health
outcomes within Chile. Outside of class, Avi is actively involved
with the Yale Policy Institute as a public health policy analyst,
and the Yale Global Health Review as a contributing writer.
