Isaidy Medina

Isaidy is a rising junior majoring in History (politics,
law, and government pathway) from New York City with a deep
passion for Latin America and the Caribbean. Born and raised in
the Dominican Republic, she developed a deep interest in
Dominican Republic–Haiti relations. Her focus lies in
understanding the forced statelessness experienced by
Dominican-born Haitians and examining the impact of Dominican
immigration laws and policies on the relationship between the two
countries. She is also interested in racial and national
consciousness in the Dominican Republic, as well as the right to
citizenship. Furthermore, she is particularly intrigued by the
lasting effects of dictatorship in the region and its influence
on contemporary socio-political dynamics. To delve deeper into
topics of immigration, Isaidy will be working as a policy intern
during the summer, researching immigration policies with Alianza
Nacional de Campesinas. The organization aims to support women
farmworkers throughout the United States, contributing to a more
equitable and inclusive agricultural industry. Isaidy strives to
deepen her understanding of the complexities of the region and
promote positive change in Latin America and the Caribbean.
